Jessica Borton

After moving to Tasmania in 2004 from the USA, Jessica joined the Wind Orchestra horn section in 2005 and wanting to become more involved took on the roles of Instrument Co-ordinator and Librarian for several years. In 2008 she became part of the conductor training portion of UTCMP, and worked with the talented conductors, including Monte Mumford. She has worked with Beginning Band since and continues to develop her teaching and conducting skills within the UTCMP.

Jessica has been working at St. Patrick’s College since 2005 – grade 7 brass, horn and loves directing their symphony orchestra. She worked with the Esk program for 9 years, but her favourite role is the one she has had since 2007 at Westbury Primary, where she runs the school’s instrumental program. Her recent teaching assistant role at SPC keeps her out of trouble the rest of the time. She loves being a part of helping community members discover their potential for music and discovering their own place in the ensemble.
