Jessica Borton

After moving to Tasmania from California in 2004, Jessica discovered the UTCMP thanks to Monte Mumford. She joined the Wind Orchestra horn section in 2005, and wanting to become more involved with the programme the next year took on the roles of Instrument Co-ordinator (until 2013) and Librarian. In 2008 she became part of the conductor training portion of UTCMP, and trained with the talented conductors, including Monte Mumford. She worked with Beginning Band until 2013, and now continues to develop her teaching and conducting skills within the UTCMP.

Jessica began teaching brass instruments in Tasmania in 2005 at St.¬†Patrick’s College and is now working at many different schools through the Education Department and Esk Music. Her favourite role is the one she has at Westbury Primary, where she teaches brass, woodwind, percussion, and runs the school’s two bands. She enjoys being a part of helping community members discover their potential for music, and discovering their own place in the ensemble and the community.
