Heidi King
Heidi graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Education (Hons) in 1998. She was awarded a Graduate Certificate in Music (Performance) in 2012 and a Master of Education (Leadership & Research) in 2013. She has worked as a general classroom teacher, music specialist, choral and band director, and university tutor (Bachelor of Education) for over 20 years.
Heidi is passionate about learning for life and has contributed in this space as chair of the Australian Society for Music Education (Tasmanian Chapter) and as an Arts (Music) curriculum writer for the Western Australian Free Reformed Schools.
In 2021 Heidi will mark 25 years of continuous involvement as educator and musician with the UTAS Community Music Program. She is currently the Musical Director of Concert Band and a member of the UTAS Wind Orchestra (Alto Saxophone). Heidi is dedicated to providing authentic musical experiences for all students. Teaching music for understanding, enjoyment and excellence underpins her musical philosophy.
