Our Bands

Our Junior Ensembles

Beginning Band is our entry-level band and is designed for those who have had no previous musical experience. Children from the age of ten through to adults of all ages are encouraged to join. In this ensemble, members learn to play an instrument through like-instrument tutorials and whole band experiences. Rehearsals: Wednesdays 5.30-6.45pm.

Intermediate Band provides the next stage of growth for musicians who have learnt the fundamentals of their instrument and have had experience playing within an ensemble. Education-based rehearsals aim to further prepare members for the demands of the senior ensembles. Members frequently spend more than one year in this training ensemble. Rehearsals: Tuesdays 5.30-6.45pm

For experienced players

Concert Band constitutes the first of the ‘senior ensembles’.  It provides further musical challenges for its players through increased difficulty in technique and repertoire. Players are required to audition for a place in this ensemble. Rehearsals: Tuesdays 7.00-9.00pm

Symphonic Band’s aim is to provide an ensemble experience that brings its players closer to the great repertoire of contemporary symphonic wind band literature. Entrance to this ensemble is also by audition. Rehearsals: Mondays 7.00-9.00pm

Wind Orchestra is the pinnacle of performance within the programme. Its members are invited to audition for the available positions within the ensemble. A high level of expertise and commitment are required from the participants, as the ensemble performs music that is generally orchestral in nature and demanding in both musicianship and professional skill. This ensemble is invited to tour regularly and continues to receive recognition for its commitment to excellence throughout Australia and New Zealand. Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7.00-9.30pm
